Tuesday, 8pm

Today was not a great day for Steve. He's had quite a bit of pain, and has been very weak. The clinic started him on the SP (Sodium Phenylbutyrate) today. Tomorrow will be a busy day. In the morning he has the PET scan and MRI. Tomorrow afternoon, they'll start the I.V. amino acid/vitamin therapy. Hopefully, he'll feel much better after that.

Some of the blood-work results were back. His hemoglobin level has dropped significantly, and the liver enzymes are elevated. We won't know exactly what that means until we get the results of the MRI and PET scan. They're planning to start the chemo on Thursday.

Please pray for our Doctors. Dr. Amen, Dr. Weaver, and Dr. Burzynski. Pray that the Lord will give them discernment and wisdom, and that He will work through them to heal Steve. We recognize that everything these Doctors have at their disposal is a gift from God, whether or not they recognize it as such.

"Some trust in chariots, and some trust in horses, but we trust in the Name of the Lord our God." Psalm 20: 7

My thoughts and prayers are with you. As my husband and I sit here and read every night, it has brought us closer and we have began praying together again, not only for Steve, (thats what started it again) but for what God is doing for so many people through all this. I know about pain and I know how hard it is and how you at times just get tired of it all... be stay strong and know that God has a plan and He will hold you and send his angels to you!
We are praying for you daily!

Praying right now for the doctors to have wisdom and discernment from above.

I don't think it is by chance that you have a doctor named Dr. AMEN, as one of your doctors. I am praying for God to heal Steve.

Stevis, I remember when I was in intense pain in the ER and you were there to share the moment when the ER doctor said "woah!" when he saw my plight, which we were able to joke about - afterwards. You were also there with me for the several surgeries I had. I know there wasn't much for you to do, but by just being there you were a source of encouragement. You have been by far the best friend I have ever had. You have been by far the best example of a Christian I have ever seen. So considerate, so thoughtful, so giving. I just wish I can be there to give back to you what you gave to me. Hang in there!

Stevis,
I want to mirror Mike's comments above mine. I could not ever imagine having a better friend. Every rough spot I have hit in my life, you have been there by my side (and those have been nothing compared to what you are going through now.) I was really glad to see you Saturday, and thanked Sheri for sharing your precious time with us. When Dee, Mike, Chad, Cathy, Barry, and I joined hands in prayer with you and Sheri, I could feel the spirit in us, and it was a very special moment to ask for your healing. Know that this stuggle is bringing us all closer to God, and that good things are already happening.
We all love you and will continue to pray for your comfort and healing. Love ya buddy, and will talk to you soon...

I was just looking at Toby's blog again. I was wondering if anyone has told Robert and Amy about your illness? I know they would want to respond with prayer. We can use all we can get.

It is really fun looking at those old pix of summer camp for 1st Baptist. There is even one with David Humphries, Robert Jeffress and WA Criswell himself along with you and all your friends for life!
Certainly it's a group that the Lord smiled upon.

I am so prayerfully thinking of both of you. I can't seem to accomplish much without a blog "fix" at least once a day. Between yours and Toby's, it's been such a wonderful trip down memory lane. It was a time of growing for our family with the re-introduction of Christ into our lives.

How do you repay a child who has added so much joy to their lives with love AND real salvation? I thank you, my precious one. My love has no end. Even if we are facing a reality that is beyond comprehension, I thank God for His goodness through all of this. He is truly glorious in the face of adversity!

And your beautiful face and your smile are enough to sustain me in all these long days of pain and suffering; if only in pictures. You have always had a smile that is purely felt and seen by others.

Thank you, my Lord. This is my son, Steve. You know him well!
Forever in prayer,
Mama

PSS: Please send Steve and Sheri a note of support right now if you feel the spirit. I don't mean that frivolously. Many of you who contact me or Don are reading this wonderful blog of Steve and Sheri. I know your hearts are full of all kinds of feelings. There are no good or bad feelings here. Just love, honesty, fear, anger and many others. We know that!

Please just take a moment to let them know you are there through every step they take.
