Friday afternoon

Today's Doctor visit wasn't very encouraging. All but one of the genetic tests are back, and they are all normal. Which means that, so far, none of the genetic therapies are available to us. We should have the results of the last one on Monday.

There is a drug they want to start Monday which is supposed to prevent the growth of certain types of blood vessels to cancer cells. It's used for colon cancer, generally. But they want to try it on Steve. The side effects are rather scary.

Beyond that, they want us to consider full blown chemotherapy and radiation. However, two weeks ago, the Oncologist at Baylor said that chemo would only add a few months. So, we have some serious decisions to make Monday.

The oral treatments that he's taking have to be taken with food. But, he has no appetite, and is plagued off and on with nausea. So, we haven't been getting all the treatments down. His pain is still intense, in his abdomen as well as his back. The Doctor said the back pain is from the cancer in his spine. Radiation might help with that.

It's very painful to see doors closed. Unsure of what the Lord has next. We're thankful to have so many people praying for us. Please pray that we'll have wisdom regarding upcoming treatment. Pray for His perfect will to be done. Pray for Steve's pain. And, pray for God's comfort for us both. We're wiped out.

"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." Psalm 23:4

Psalm 34:7 "The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them"

Praying for the angels of the Lord to encamp around each of you and to deliver you from pain, exhaustion, fear and uncertainty.

May you rest in Him once more! He will direct your path.

We are fervently praying for Steve's pain to subside. We are praying for you to have the wisdom to make the decisions you need to make on Monday. We are asking God to give you both a better night tonight than you had last night. Wish we could be there to help hold you up. You are a blessing to everyone who knows you. With all our love and prayers, Aunt Doris, Uncle Roy and Granny.

We are praying daily for you. Continue to have faith for Steve's healing. God does heal cancer. I sent your blog to my brother-in-law who is a minister. He placed Steve on the World Wide Web prayer list. People all over the world are praying for him as a result of that posting. He has a web site www.iachurches.org that has some uplifting articles. Go to website, click on prayer requests, then click on praise reports and scroll down to Milton Rhoads. He was diagnosed with lung cancer and after treatment, has been clear of cancer. You have been such an inspiration to my husband and me with your faith and commitment to God. Don't give up. Keep praying and believing for healing!

Steve,

I normally save my prayers for matters that are very important to me. This is one of those times. I have continued to pray for your healing daily and know that I will continue to do so. You are a remarkable friend and a better husband and father. Keep the faith always.

Steve & Sheri,
This journey has touched me deeper than you can imagine. I have never prayed as fervently as I have the past 3 weeks. I feel closer to God than I have ever felt, thanks to this mission of yours.
Tonight, I will pray as always do for healing. I will also pray for relief from pain, peace, the feeling of His arms around both of you. I will pray that your guidance leads you to the right choices and decisions on Monday.
Your name is on every prayer list I can reach, and then some.
Much love, rest well.

Dear Sheri and Steve,

My heart goes out to you both. I know you are tired and worn and feeling weak, but you still take time to update us all and to ask for prayer. Thank you. You both are such an example of strong faith and very inspiring. As I read through all of the comments, most asking that you NOT lose hope, I couldn't help but feel a surge of hope myself. Satan doesn't want Steve to be healed, because God will be glorified in that miracle. He wants you to give up hope, but there are many standing in the gap for you even now when you are feeling weak and sad and we will NOT lose hope. We know that it may indeed be God's perfect will to take Steve home, but we also know that it MAY be His perfect will to HEAL Steve, showing everyone His mighty power and glory! So, I will continue to pray for healing! And, I pray for relief from the pain and peace and rest for you both. Much love in Christ, Trina Wiles

I pray everything is ok. I have been reading your post everyday. I was concerned to get up this morning and not find one for yesterday. I am praying and thinking about your family daily. God is so good. He will be good to your family too.

Last night at church we sang "He is Might to Save"

My Savior
He can move the mountains
My God is Mighty to save
He is Mighty to save
Forever
Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

Shine your light and let the whole world see
We're singing for the glory of the risen King...Jesus

I thought of you and prayed for you all through the song.

I hope you update the blog soon.
I'm concerned because there was not an update yesterday.
